Ahh, choices. We pitch a lot of Glock products and accessories because we love the interchangeability with the brand, as well as their reliability. One of these benefits is the conversion barrel from Lone Wolf that turns your Glock 27 from a 40S&W to a 9mm in two simple steps: Get the barrel and use a G26 magazine to hold your 9mm rounds. As the magazines are interchangeable, your G27 will have no trouble accepting a G26 magazine.

The barrel that we are talking about in this review is located here.

First, here is the information that Lone Wolf provides on their website for this product:

Lone Wolf Distributors match grade replacement barrels are manufactured from the highest grade mill select 416 stainless forgings. CNC machined and heat treated, providing a life time of service and unparalleled accuracy at an affordable price. The standard groove and land rifling make this an excellent choice for those who wish to shoot lead, plated or jacketed bullets. Can be used in factory ported or stock pistols. Intended for use in the Glock 27 ,33. We do recommend you use the correct 9mm magazine with these conversion barrels to guarantee reliable feeding. Use G26 9mm mag for G27 and G33 conversion.

Special features include:

  • Ready to use, pre-fit drop in. No gunsmithing required.
  • Precision machined from heat treated 416R stainless forgings.
  • Oversized lock-up area produces greater shot-to-shot accuracy.
  • Tighter dimensions than the original.
  • Polished feed ramp and bore, diamond turned exterior
  • Maximum chamber support, improved feed ramp design.
  • Match grade broach cut rifling and target crown.
  • Ok to use lead, plated or jacketed bullets.
  • Lifetime warranty.

Lone Wolf Distributors will replace any of our barrels or barrel accessories which are found to have manufacturing or material defects. Customer modifications or the use of reloaded ammunition will void this warranty.

DSC_0692Now let’s get into it!

The purpose of this barrel, as stated above, is to allow you to shoot 9mm from your Glock 27 which is built to handle 40S&W. The beauty of the Glock 26 (9mm) and the Glock 27 (40S&W) is that they are nearly identical. The differences are this: Magazine, Barrel, and the Ejector Pin. With this conversion barrel, the loading side of the barrel is off-centered a hair so that the rounds can line up with the ejector pin properly, since they are smaller rounds than the firearm is meant to eject.

So, as soon as this baby was delivered, we headed to the range to give it a test run. We were immediately sold.

The barrel performed flawlessly, firing and ejecting just as nature intended. We have seen reviews of stovepipes and bad feeds, but we have yet to experience these issues. Our guess is that those issues may have come from ammo that the barrel, for whatever reason, didn’t like. We however, used a variety of ammo and still could not replicate the problem.

There really isn’t much else to say. If you want to shoot 9mm from your G27, save a few bucks on ammo, and have a nice option such as this, we highly recommend purchasing this barrel. Aside from this one for the G27, there are many other options for many models. They also make some killer custom slides that we’ve been eyeing for a while now.

A little side note here, as we feel it’s important; It is our stance with any firearm that is used for concealed carry, to keep everything stock. With that said, we only use this barrel at the range. This is our personal preference and regardless of the aftermarket product, we will always stick to this rule.
