Eleanor Roosevelt Had Her NYS Pistol Permit; And They Still Look The Same Over 50 Years Later

In 1957, New York State issued a concealed carry permit to Eleanor Roosevelt, number 8043. Guess what? The state is so behind the times, the permits look the same as they did over 50 years ago.

While some counties have moved onto plastic cards, many have not. Albany County, for example, still issues these pieces of paper that give you the ‘ok’ to carry a firearm –if you don’t have any restrictions placed on it.

We won’t get into the issuance of permits because that’s a whole other topic, but thought that this was an interesting and historic find.
