A Man And His Pregnant Fiance Wrestle Gun Away From Home Intruder, Turning The Tables

Indianapolis Police were investigating an attempted robbery Sunday night around 10:30pm after there were reported gunshots fired.

The resident of the home called police after reportedly shooting the suspected home intruder. When officers arrived to the home, they found a male with several gunshot wounds.

The attempted robber forced his way into the home, disarmed the resident who had a firearm, but the would-be victim and his pregnant fiance was able to wrestle the gun back into their possession and shot the intruder dead.

Indianapolis Police Department Spokesman Christopher Wilburn couldn’t have put it any better:

“We are in support of legal gun ownership, make no mistake about that.  Those are some of the basic tenants of our constitution. We want people to exercise caution, wisdom, and proper gun safety.”

Another local resident, Alicia Oskay, shared her thoughts on the incident. She was, unfortunately, not surprised that something such as this would occur in the neighborhood. However, she completely understands why a person would keep firearms on hand for just such an occasion.

The suspect has been identified as Dequan Cummings, of Indianapolis. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

This case is still being investigating and police are still searching for a second suspect. Because of the death of the other suspect, the second suspect will be facing felony murder charges when found.
