Good Samaritan Intervenes In Domestic Violence Assault, Winds Up Shooting The Guy In Self-Defense

SPOKANE, WASHINGTON — Police are still sorting out the scene of a self-defense shooting involving a Good Samaritan intervening in an alleged assault of a woman.  The Associated Press reports that an assault was in progress on a woman before an unnamed bystander went to intervene.  The man in the dispute turned and went to attack him.  That is when, according to witnesses that spoke to KXLY, the Good Samaritan allegedly used his self-defense firearm to shoot his attacker.

The police were called to the scene at 9:50 am and the attacker was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injury and died.

Witnesses at the scene, accordng to KXLY, say they saw the man attacking a woman prior to the Good Samaritan arriving.  AP sources cite Cpl. Jordan Ferguson as stating there was a domestic component to this assault.  Investigators are still trying to determine what precisely took place.

No other shots were fired or people hurt in this encounter.
