Constitutional Carry Law Takes Effect Tomorrow In The State Of Maine

Published

Tomorrow, Thursday, October 15, the new Constitutional/Permitless carry measure will officially become law in the state of Maine.

Sponsored by Senator Eric Brakey (R-Androscoggin), LD 652 will allow all residents of Maine who are not otherwise prohibited by law from possessing a firearm the right to carry concealed without obtaining a Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP).  LD 652 will also leave the current carry permitting system intact for those who wish to participate in reciprocal concealed carry permit agreements when traveling to other states.

The new measure also allows active military between the ages of 18-21 years to carry a concealed firearm without going through the permitting process.  For more information regarding this new law, please visit the website of the Maine State Police.

We want to thank you for your activism and support on LD652.  We will continue to keep you updated on pro-gun legislation in the upcoming 2016 legislative session.
