Armored Truck Robbery Attempt With Sledgehammer Goes Bad For This Thug

Published

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS — An attempted robbery suspect got a bullet instead of cash when he tried to rob an armored truck driver who was carrying a firearm.

The strangest part, possibly, is that the man attempted the robbery with a sledgehammer.

dnainfo.com reports;

At 9:30 a.m., the driver was making a delivery in the 4300 block of West 26th Street and got out of the truck while carrying a bag, according to an FBI news release. That’s when a man in reflective clothing hit the driver with a sledgehammer and tried to rob the driver, the FBI said.

In turn, the driver pulled his firearm and shot the man, sending him running. Police caught up with the suspect after he was spotted in a vehicle. He was taken to the hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

According to the FBI, the driver received “life-altering” injuries during the attack.

If the suspect isn’t charged with attempted murder, he should be.

We’re thankful that the driver survived the attack and happy that he was armed and ready to defend himself.
