Homeowner Fatally Shoots Intruder, No Charges Expected

DORCHESTER COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA – A home invasion ended with the intruder being shot dead by the homeowner on the afternoon of Friday, January 8th. The incident occurred around 3:17 p.m. in the 100 block of Beret Street in North Charleston.

According to Dorchester County Sheriff Lieutenant Rick Carson, a man called 911 and told dispatchers that a man had entered his home. When deputies arrived, they found the man dead, apparently from a single gunshot wound. Detectives and crime scene investigators were conducting interviews at the scene, Carson said. North Charleston Fire and Dorchester County EMS also responded to the scene.

The deceased was identified as Damian B. Harrison, 32, of nearby Summerville, according to the Dorchester County Coroner’s Office, who also said that his body would undergo an autopsy at the Medical University of South Carolina on January 12th

Deputies did not speculate on whether the homeowner who fatally shot the suspect would face any charges, or if there were any witnesses to the incident.
