Early Morning Rendezvous Turns Out To Be A Robbery Ruse

Published

DALLAS, TEXAS – A man expecting a pre-dawn visit from a woman was shot after she showed up with friends. The unpleasant surprise happened in the 1000 block of Royal Lane around 4:00 a.m. Sunday.

He told officers that he was expecting a woman to come to his home alone. Instead, she instead showed up with four uninvited guests. The victim told police that he opened the door, and the group, several of whom were armed with guns, tried to force their way in.  A struggle ensued, but he was able to push them all out and close the door…which they shot through, hitting him in the abdomen before fleeing the scene on foot.

The man, identified only as a 25-year-old, was transported to a local hospital by first responders. No further information is available on his condition or if his injuries were life-threatening or not. Police say that they are investigating the case as an aggravated robbery.

So much to ponder here…it’s probably not wise to invite someone to your place at four in the morning, and definitely not wise to open the door at that time.  He must have been a strong guy to force four other men back out through the door. It goes without saying that he could have defended himself and his property much better with a firearm…and a little training…and a little common sense.
