Man Takes Bat To Bouncer’s Head And Gets A Bullet In The Hip In Return

HOUSTON, TEXAS — A man is facing charges after attacking a bar bouncer with a ball bat and being shot.  Police say it unfolded around 2 a.m. at the Azteca bar in the 5900 block of South Gessner Road near Harwin Drive.

A security guard attempted to get a patron to leave the establishment, but that patron refused to leave. When he did exit the building, he retrieved a bat from his vehicle and re-entered looking for the security guard.  Chasing the man, the slugger managed to get one strike in one the guard’s head before the guard drew his firearm and fired three rounds at his attacker, hitting him once in the hip.

Both men were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and are expected to fully recover. Officials say that the bar patron will be charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. No charges are anticipated against the security guard, who required stitches for his wounds.
