Officer Fatally Shoots Driver During Traffic Stop Negligent Discharge

Every negligent discharge has a certain degree of cringe, but this one is on a whole other level given the circumstances and the outcome.

During a traffic stop, two police officers try to get a man out of his vehicle. When the one officer is attempting to do this, he still has his gun in his hand and when he’s trying to get the man out, negligently pulls the trigger and shoots the man in the back of the head.

The man dies instantly.

For everyone out there that owns a gun, a negligent discharge is something that should never happen. Sometimes the bullet goes through a wall and that’s it, and other times people lose their lives. Both are different degrees of bad, and all are preventable.

This officer failed to use proper firearm safety procedures, as well as common procedures for police when dealing with these types of situations, such as holstering your firearm before physically interacting with someone.

It’s a sad outcome, but one that can be used as a learning tool to help prevent future tragedy.
