Florida Sheriff: Homeowners Are More Than Welcome To Shoot Intruders

Published

A wild chase of a home invasion suspect is what prompted a news conference by Santa Rosa County Sheriff Bob Johnson, and he had a lot to say on the topic.

If somebody’s breaking into your house, you’re more than welcome to shoot them in Santa Rosa County, and we prefer that you do actually. Whoever that was, you’re not in trouble. Come see us. We have a gun safety class we put on every other Saturday. If you take that, you’ll shoot a lot better, and hopefully, you’ll save taxpayers money.

The suspect has been arrested over a dozen times in his life, and even spent 6 years behind bars for a home invasion. Some people just don’t learn.

I’m of the opinion that using your firearm to defend property is a gray area, but if an intruder is inside I’d your home, all bets are off and you must do what you can to defend yourself and your home.
