Springfield Armory Introduces The 1911 EMISSARY 4.25″ 9MM

If there’s one thing to be said about Springfield Armory, it’s that they are creating a wonderful lineup of both handguns and long guns. The newest addition to the family is the 1911 EMISSARY 4.25″ 9MM, which is an absolutely stunning piece of engineering.

This handgun comes with a bunch of features that you’d be wanting to upgrade with a ‘stock’ 1911, and to kick things off, here are the full Specs for this particular model:

  • CALIBER: 9mm
  • COLOR: Blued / Stainless
  • BARREL: 4.25″ Forged Stainless Steel, Match Grade, Fully Supported Ramp, Bull, 1:16
  • SLIDE: Forged Carbon Steel, Blued
  • FRAME: Forged Stainless Steel
  • SIGHTS: Tritium/Luminescent Front, Tactical Rack U-Notch Rear
  • RECOIL SYSTEM: Commander Length
  • GRIPS: VZ Grips® Thin-Line G10
  • MAGAZINES: (2) 9-Round
  • WEIGHT: 40 oz
  • LENGTH: 7.75″
  • HEIGHT: 5.25″
  • MSRP: $1,349

The barrel is a beefy 4.25″ Forged Stainless Steel barrel, Match Grade, Fully Supported Ramp, Bull, with a 1:16 twist. The trigger is what you’d expect with a 1911, with a nice crisp and smooth pull to the rear.

The grips are there to give bite, and give bite they do. The styling is beautiful and the handling is aggressive, but not too aggressive for a 9mm. It’ll allow you to shoot without creating any blisters, while still keeping your hands where they’re supposed to be. Yes, I’m having flashbacks to our Hellcat Torture Test.

The sights are Tritium/Luminescent Front, Tactical Rack U-Notch Rear, similar to what you’ll find on the Hellcat. I’ve grown to love them after carrying the Hellcat for so long, and I was pleased to see them on this new model.

Shipping now and with (2) 9-round magazines, this is one to add to the collection. Historically I haven’t been much of a 1911 guy, but Springfield has been changing that with these new additions.

A full review is in the works, as I’m up in New York for a while and haven’t yet added this one to my permit. We don’t want to be criminals now, do we?
