FL Homeowner Uses AK-47 Against 3 Armed Intruders After Dropping Handgun

Published

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, FLORIDA — A homeowner used an AK-47-style rifle to defend his home against three armed invaders on July 7th.

When the suspects entered the home, the homeowner was already armed with a concealed handgun that he drew, but immediately dropped on the ground. He then ran to another location inside the home and grabbed an AK-47-style rifle and opened fire on the intruders.

“He started shooting for his own protection, to get them out of his house and to protect himself,” Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons said.

Police identified two of the suspects, with a third being identified after seeking care for a wound to the head.

“We get a report of a third individual that had a wound to the head not long after [the home invasion]. The stories he’s giving us as to how he got shot in the head are inconsistent at best. In short, we don’t believe him. So what we’re looking at is to determine whether this is the third person that was involved,” Simmons said during the press conference.

This incident happened around midnight, yet this homeowner was still carrying a firearm. The bad is that he dropped it and one of the suspects ended up grabbing it off the ground, which one of many nightmares for gun owners.

Keep control of your firearm, and know how to draw (and shoot) under pressure.
