Raleigh Mass Shooting Suspect Identified As 15-Year-Old Boy

RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA — Police say a 15-year-old boy is currently in critical condition after he shot and killed 5 people and injured 2 others in a shooting spree that included a neighborhood and a walking trail. The mass shooting took place yesterday evening, and police don’t yet know what caused the teen to do what he did.

The victims have been identified as:

Nicole Connors, 52
Susan Karnatz, 49
Mary Marshall, 34
Officer Gabriel Torres, 29
James Roger Thompson, 16

The shooting began around 5 p.m. in the Hedingham neighborhood where he shot 2 people, and then he ran toward the Neuse River Greenway Trail, where he opened fire, killing three more people and wounding two others, according to police.

The entire ordeal spanned nearly 2 miles, and police were searching for the suspect for hours, telling residents to remain indoors as the threat was not yet eliminated.

The suspect is currently in critical condition, and police have not yet released the injuries he sustained, or how the injuries occurred.
