Why We Carry: Man Who Worked For A Family Kidnaps And Kills Them, Leaving Baby To Die

MERCED, CALIFORNIA — Jesus Manuel Salgado is suspected of kidnapping and killing four family members, including an eight month old infant who was left to die of exposure.

On Monday October 3, 2022, the four family members were kidnapped from the intersection of Dickerson Road and South Highway 59. The victims included 36-year-old Jasdeep Singh, 27-year-old Jasleen Kaur, their eight-month-old child Aroohi Dheri and the baby’s uncle, 39-year-old Amandeep Singh.

Salgado was a former employee who drove for the family’s trucking business and after a disagreement, Salgado left the company. Salgado has been charged with four counts of kidnapping and four counts of murder. According to deputies, Salgado attempted to kill himself before he was arrested.

The city is holding a candle light vigil for the family in downtown Merced, at 510 W main street, October 6 – 9 starting every night at 7pm.

This horrid incident show the need to carry to defend yourself, especially if you own a business and have potentially disgruntled former employees. Carrying a firearm is also essential in making sure that your family is safe in dangerous situations. This incident shows the need for situational awareness and making sure that you never back yourself into a position where you can’t escape.
