Burglary Suspect Brings Rock To A Gun Fight, Is Shot And Killed By Armed Homeowner

OAKTON, VIRGINIA — A Oakton homeowner shot and killed a burglary suspect Wednesday, November 9th. Fairfax Couny Police responded to the shooting that occurred around 6:50 pm at a residence on Wapels Mill Road.

Fairfax police state that the suspect forced his way into the residence after an incident that occurred just prior to the shooting. The suspect and the resident were reported to have been in an altercation outside the residence. The homeowner went inside after the altercation. The suspect also entered the residence, armed with a large rock. The homeowner produced a firearm and shot the suspect. The resident then called 911 to report the incident.

Fairfax County police sent out a notice via Twitter of the incident and advising that there was no immediate danger to the public. Police conducted a press conference relating information regarding the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing. Police have not identified the suspect. No one else was injured in the incident.
