Chicago CCL Holder Fatally Shoots Armed Robbery Suspect

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS — A CCL holder shot and killed a suspect who attempted to rob a Chicago grocery store. A clerk was also critically wounded by the robbery suspect in the shooting,

Police state that the robbery attempt occurred at a South Shore grocery store in the 2600 block of East 73rd street at around 6:20 pm. Police state that the suspect went into the store with the intent to rob it and produced a gun. The CCL holder shot the suspect, fatally wounding him. The robbery suspect managed to shoot the clerk, who was critically wounded.

The 64-year-old critically wounded clerk was transported to University of Chicago Hospital. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was injured in the robbery attempt. One witness stated he and his grandchildren were above the location and were “terrified.” Police took three guns from the scene and continue to investigate.
