Intruder shot and killed by homeowner in Georgia

DEKALB COUNTY, GA — An intruder was fatally shot by a homeowner after forcing his way into a residence in DeKalb County.

The incident occurred Thursday, February 16th at around 4:30 p.m., according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The incident occurred in the 3400 block of Valley Chase Court.

The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Ian Patton, reportedly forcibly entered a residence at the Valley Chase Court address. He was shot during a confrontation with the homeowner.

Patton fled through the back door of the residence and collapsed. Police do not expect to charge the homeowner in the shooting. The incident occurred not far from an elementary and middle school.
