Security Guard Stops Potential Mass Shooting As Armed Man With Mask Tries Entering Club

TAMPA, FLORIDA — A security guard is being hailed a hero after surveillance video shows him going after an armed man who was attempting to enter a club early Sunday morning.

Manny Resto is the security guard who turned hero in seconds.

Resto noticed the man walking towards the door wearing the devil mask and holding a handgun. Before he could get into the club, Resto stopped him and began to wrestle with the armed suspect, who ended up dropping his gun on the ground.

Resto then picked up the gun and pointed it at the suspect, who tackled him but was ultimately subdued by multiple people, as well as being hit in the head with his own gun.

The situational awareness of this security guard was on-point, recognizing what was happening and acting quickly to stop whatever plans the armed suspect had.

At the time of the incident, there were around 200 people inside the club.

The suspect, identified as 44-year-old Michael Rudman, was taken into custody. Rudman has a history of domestic violence and mental health issues, according to police.
