Police: Texas Homeowner Shoots, Kills Intruder

AUSTIN, TEXAS — A Northeast Austin homeowner fatally shot a suspected intruder during an early Tuesday morning break-in attempt.

The Austin Police Department responded to a call around 5:31 a.m. on the 7600 block of Bethune Avenue, where a woman reported a man attempting to enter her home through a door and window, according to CBS Austin.

She later informed that the suspect had entered the house, followed by gunshots.

Upon arrival, police officers and EMS medics found the male suspect, identified as 61-year-old Samuel Wolf, deceased.

The preliminary investigation suggests that the suspect was shot in self-defense by a resident.

There is no evidence that the residents knew Wolf.

Further details about the home’s occupants have not been released, but the police confirmed the residence is a duplex.
