Man With Gun Shoots Attacker With Knife During Attack; Witnesses

GASTONIA, NORTH CAROLINA— A shooting occurred on Wednesday around 11:45 a.m. outside a hemp shop, Buddha’s Bazaar, on East Franklin Boulevard in Gastonia, according to the Gaston Gazette.


Emergency calls following the incident revealed that a man fired at another individual who had been pursuing him with a knife.

One 911 caller suggested that the shooting may have been an act of self-defense, stating, “The guy with the gun is the good guy. We saw him being chased by the guy with the knife.”

Another caller corroborated the account, describing a confrontation in the parking lot where the armed individual attempted to leave before being chased down the road by the knife-wielding man.

The shooter warned the attacker to back off before firing. The individual who was shot, not yet identified by the police, is currently hospitalized with severe injuries. As of Thursday, no charges have been filed in the case.
