SEATTLE, WASHINGTON — On Tuesday night in downtown Seattle, a 37-year-old man was arrested for stabbing and robbing a 20-year-old man of his scooter. The incident occurred after the man, armed with a concealed handgun, got off of a King County Metro bus near 4th Avenue and Columbia Street. The Seattle Police Department (SPD) found the armed citizen on the 700 block of 5th Avenue around 10 p.m., suffering from serious, potentially life-threatening stab wounds. He was promptly taken to Harborview Medical Center by Seattle Fire Department medics.
The armed citizen, in self-defense, had fired multiple shots at the assailant before fleeing. The King County Sheriff’s Office aided in the investigation by providing surveillance footage from the bus, leading to the identification and apprehension of the suspect at 5th Avenue South and South Holgate Street. The suspect, who had a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was carrying several knives, was treated and will be taken into custody for robbery upon medical clearance.
The SPD recovered the firearm used by the armed citizen and located the stolen scooter at a construction site near 3rd Avenue and Cherry Street. Evidence from the shooting scene was also collected as part of the ongoing investigation.
