Concealed Carrier Was End-Of-The-Line For Suspects Involved In Crime Spree

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS — In the early hours on Tuesday in Edgewater, Chicago, a concealed carry permit holder disrupted an armed robbery spree. The 23-year-old was confronted by a gunman emerging from a vehicle on the 5400 block of North Winthrop around 4:22 a.m. The victim, armed and licensed, retaliated, leading to an exchange of gunfire. While the victim was unharmed, a blood trail suggested the robber may have been injured before fleeing with his accomplices.

Prior to this incident, several similar robberies had occurred in the area, involving armed men using an SUV and a sedan. Chicago police later identified the vehicles used in the robberies as a Kia SUV and a Kia sedan, both white or silver. Locations and times of the robberies were also detailed, indicating a pattern across various blocks in Chicago.

  • 2000 Block of West Granville at 3:30 a.m.
  • 6600 Block of North Clark at 3:55 a.m.
  • 2100 Block of West Lunt at 3:40 a.m.
  • 6100 Block of North Wolcott at 4:08 a.m.
  • 2000 Block of West Farwell at 4:09 a.m.
  • 5900 Block of North Broadway at 4:13 a.m.
  • 5400 Block of North Kenmore at 4:15 a.m.
  • 1100 Block of West Balmoral at 4:15 A.M
  • 5400 Block of North Winthrop at 4:22 A.M

The suspects are described as two to four Black men, aged between 18 and 25. As of the latest update, no arrests have been made, and the investigation continues.

When faced with armed resistance, the plans of the bad guys typically change. Hopefully they will be caught but in the meantime, Chicago seems to have a significant amount of armed citizens who are tired of being victimized by these criminals.
