Man Shot And Killed After Threatening Concealed Carrier With Hatchet

NEW CASTLE, INDIANA — In an early morning incident in New Castle, a 27-year-old man was fatally shot after allegedly approaching another individual with a hatchet. The distressing event unfolded around 12:47 a.m. at the intersection of 18th Street and D Avenue, prompting an immediate response from the Henry County Sheriff’s Department and New Castle Police Department.

The situation escalated when the complainant, feeling threatened by the man wielding a hatchet, resorted to using a firearm in self-defense. The hatchet-bearer succumbing to his injuries after being rushed to a nearby hospital, as confirmed by the Henry County Coroner.

This incident has sparked an investigation led by the New Castle Police Department. As of the latest updates, there have been no arrests, and the details surrounding the confrontation remain under investigation.
