Why We Carry: 12-Year-Old Boy Stabs Woman In Her Garage After Argument

Published

HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS — A 12-year-old boy has been charged after allegedly stabbing a 59-year-old woman in her home on Saturday. The incident, occurring at 2:19 p.m. in the woman’s garage, followed an argument between her and two children, aged 7 and 12. Security footage revealed the children returning, wearing rubber gloves and armed, before the attack.

The victim, suffering multiple abdominal stab wounds, was critically injured and taken to surgery. Her brother’s timely visit possibly saved her life, finding her shortly after the attack. The woman, known to have mental health issues, has had law enforcement called to her residence multiple times for various disturbances.

Neighbors suggested her behavior might have contributed to the altercation, although a motive has not been officially determined.

It still doesn’t justify a 12-year-old returning to stab her, but this is yet another lesson in de-escalating situations, because there are 12-year-olds out there who will stab you after a verbal argument.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating but has not provided further updates on the woman’s condition.
